Waters of Kennall Vale
In 1812, when Kennall Vale became a working gunpowder mill, water was the source that powered the industry. The river running through the valley powered all of the machinery and buildings on the site through multiple large wheels.

However, after the horrific accident in 1838 where five of the mills exploded, nature took over the site and conintues to take over to this day. What lies there now are remains overgrown with nature, which has created an ideal home for wildlife and new vegetation.

The river remains a crucial element of the valley even now. This is because all of the specific vegetation and wildlife that lives in this Atlantic Temperate Rainforest relies on the water and humidity to survive.

This project highlights the role that the water plays at Kennall Vale today by showing water in different forms and locations in each photo.
